Sun, Sand and Sea.

Today the sun was out and it was hot, hot, hot. So where's the best place to go when there's good weather? Down to the beach of course. No crafting was done today, I'm not keen on sandy sewing, so it was left at home.
We picked up our buckets and spades and walked to the sea front.
The tide was out and it was busy, little groups of people dotted all over the sand.
We chose our spot and got stuck into some serious sand castle building.
Our beach has lovely golden sand and is dog free at one end so no nasty surprises as you dig.
The girls had a whale of a time building, and an even better time knocking them all down by jumping on, and over the castles. All but one castle was built and destroyed. The 4th was fiercely guarded until the end of the day, when it too was annihilated by a jumping blond beast.
We had the obligatory paddle but weren't brave enough to go in any deeper.
We built water channels to watch the sea fill and reclaim the sand.
We had the best afternoon in a long while and came home all sandy, sun kissed, and tired.
I love my home town, but it's even better when the sun shines!

Clare... looks like you guys had a great day!! I'm impressed that you live so close to the beach! We have a three hour drive to our closest one... four hours to the beach we usually head to for holidays! (In winter of course!!) We have four weeks till we head off for our three week caravan holiday! Anyways, best go get the kids some lunch.

It looks fabulous. I live a long way from the sea, and from time to time have a yearning to make the trek to the coast.

Glad you had a good day. x

Aww, that's the one thing I miss most (apart from sewing, friends and family of course) - sea and sand.
It looks like you and the girls had a fab day :) ...still trying to work out if the 3rd photo down is meant to be just a mound of sand or a bust of Julius Caesar.

It looks like you all had an absolutely brilliant day! We spent most of our day at the allotment and the children enjoyed soaking each other with a water pistol that Fred was given for his birthday - they were drenched, especially as their friends there all had water pistols too!

All my childhood memories of long sunny, sandy days came flooding back! We just don't know how lucky we are to have all this on our doorsteps, I just couldn't live anywhere else. Kevin says that the North East is the best kept secret - he's right.
Glad you all had a fab day - hope we have lots more this summer,
